or (GED) tests are a group of five subject tests which, when passed, certify that the taker has American level academic skills. The initials GED have also been used on diplomas to mean General Education Diploma,  General Equivalency Diploma. GED and the GED  Testing Service are registered trademarks of the American Council on Education.

The GED test can be taken by paper or on a computer, but tests must be taken in person. Jurisdictions award a Certificate of High School Equivalency or similarly titled credential to persons who meet the passing score requirements. The GED  as I mention earlier is the equivalent to a high school diploma.

The standard scores for the GED tests range from a minimum of 200 to a maximum of 800 on each test.  To pass you’ll  60% of the score that is required. This simply translates to a score of at least 410 on each GED test to pass it, and an overall average score of 450 for the five-test battery. Moreover, the score for any single test cannot be below 410.
